About Us

Montreal’s Piercing & Tattoo Icons Since 1999

Our Story

Founded in 1999, Slick Styled Steel made history as the first tattoo and piercing studio on Montréal’s legendary St-Laurent Boulevard — right in the heart of the Main.

From day one, Slick built a reputation for precision, artistry, and authenticity, setting a new benchmark for body art in the city.

Soon after, a second Slick Styled Steel location opened in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, becoming a West Island icon on the boardwalk and a trusted destination for tattoos and piercings.

As the community grew, so did the demand. In 2003, Slick designed and built a larger St-Laurent studio from the ground up, elevating standards of cleanliness, comfort, and client experience. By 2007, the downtown shop found its permanent home at 1841-D Ste-Catherine Street West, just steps from Guy-Concordia metro (St-Mathieu exit) — where it continues to evolve, combining more than two decades of tradition with today’s highest standards of sterilization, safety, and creative expression.

Today, Slick Styled Steel stands among Montréal’s most respected names in tattooing and professional body piercing. Our team remains the core of who we are — modest, passionate, and deeply dedicated to the craft. Every client who walks through our doors is treated with the same care, precision, and respect that built our reputation over 25 years ago.

Who is Slick?

Known in Montréal’s tattoo and piercing community simply as Slick, Rich Dupuis began his professional journey in Daytona Beach, Florida, during the early 1990s — the same era that saw modern body piercing explode in popularity across North America.

Under the mentorship of Paul Merk at Florida’s legendary studio The Corner (est. 1992), Rich learned the foundations of precision, hygiene, and professionalism that would shape his career. After honing his craft for several years in the U.S., he returned home to Montréal in 1999, bringing with him an advanced approach to sterilization and technique that was still rare in Canada at the time.

That same year, he founded what would become one of Montréal’s most respected names in body modification — Slick Styled Steel. What started as a small studio on St-Laurent Boulevard quickly grew into a trusted destination for safe, clean, and high-quality piercings and tattoos, eventually expanding to two full locations:

  • Downtown Montréal (Guy-Concordia area) – Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays
  • Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (West Island) – Tuesdays & Wednesdays

With over 30 years of hands-on experience, Rich has built a reputation for uncompromising safety, authentic artistry, and community respect. Whether mentoring young artists, refining techniques, or welcoming first-timers, Slick remains committed to offering Montréalers the same thing he’s always stood for — quality without compromise.
